Bought this to replace my Nitecore EDC29 with a faulty switch as a dedicated self-defence flashlight. I love that it also offers many functions useful for EDC.
HOWEVER. . . the lack of a semi-lock feature that inhibits the EDC modes while leaving the tactical modes functional is a deal breaker for me. If left unlocked in the front pocket, the main EDC switch gets inadvertently activated pretty much every time I sit, discharging the battery. If locked, tactical modes will not work.

Excellent EDC flashlight

The E90 is an excellently crafted flashlight with a good operating concept. It is logical to use and intuitive to operate after a short time. I use the red light on my backpack when I ride my bike. For me personally, it's a great product.

It's a great EDC Torch (I’m from the UK, we don’t call them flashlights), the flat design is my preferred type for leaving in my jacket. The Medium setting of 200 Lumens is fine for everyday use, the High setting, 1000 is great for wet days where light doesn't reflect as much. The Turbo mode is useful; I have used it already, I needed to briefly enhance the brightness of an area beyond the scope of 1000 lumens. For me though the turbo is a fallback for if/when I am being threatened, which is why I swapped this torch out for a competitor’s flat version, that lacked the tactical buttons which I feel is essential for an EDC torch. It also lacked USB C charging, the torch the E90 replaced used a propriety magnetic cable which was great and a pain as I had to carry another cable. Standardising USB C across all my EDC equipment makes sense.

The small LEDs are brighter than you would expect, making them ideal for close up work with the flashlight clipped to your jacket or cap. The Red LED is bright enough to navigate by. The UV is powerful enough to check money or items close up.

What would I like to see on the next version?
1: The ability to power my phone from the USB C port so I can make an emergency call. I have other torches that act as powerbanks.
2: A physical lock switch, near the tail switches. One competitor to Rovyvon has this feature and I nearly bought that model just because of the switch. It should be configurable to lock out all buttons and have the option to not lock out the lower profile Turbo button. In an emergency you may want fast access to the Turbo.
